Retro Valentine's Day Decorations

Ah, Valentine's Day. I love any holiday that gives me an excuse to decorate with pink and glitter. I've spent the last 7 years with three males in my household, so I take femininity where ever I can. As a matter of fact, I have blogged about my Valentine's Day decorations before. You can see those posts here,  here, and here.

This year I decided to have a little theme. I tried to do my best to represent ombre- which is the movement of color from dark to light (or light to dark). You can see my attempt on the felt hearts, the anemone jersey garland, and on a pitcher I painted which is on one of the shelves.

I also started a collection of vintage candy boxes. I would like to get a large enough collection so the whole display is filled with them. Wouldn't that be cool!

My favorite chocolate box is below. Notice the term 'doll' in the heart? I use that all the time! That is why it is my favorite.

Even though I often used vintage or retro reproductions in my displays, I also like to find fun kitschy items at my local Target or Dollar Store. I figure they are the vintage of tomorrow. The pink vase below is from Target.

I made the pom-poms you see below, as well as the felt heart garland. I am posting a video on how to make the felt garland. It is my first video and I am very excited to show it to you all.

I am also doing a post on the lovely floral centerpiece, so be sure to come back all this week for more Valentines Day goodness!

    1. I also have the hearts hanging from the light fixture. They would look pretty in a door frame as well.

      Thanks doll,

  5. How precious! That candy box reminds me of the ones I got when I was a teenager! It was always a big deal to get a box of candy and Valentines when I was growing up! Very fun decorations! ♥

  6. I have a question... in the picture that shows all of your beautiful shelves, on the third shelf from the top on the left side, those cute basket/boxes (so cute), where did you get them?

    I love your blog!!
